Optometrist Opportunity (3 Days) Hampton, Melbourne VIC Some practices recruit constantly. Others… almost never. This is one of those practices. Hampton Eyecare has built a reputation over decades for delivering thoughtful, patient-first care - and for keeping their team. With one of their long-standing Optometrists now retiring, an opportunity has opened to step into a well-established patient base within a genuinely stable and respected practice. The Role - 3 days per week: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
- 9:00am - 5:30pm
- No weekends. No late nights.
- Mid-June start
This is a full-scope clinical role where you’ll have the autonomy to practice properly - not within the constraints of retail KPIs, but with the time and trust to do what’s right for your patients. The Practice Environment - Patient-driven, not retail-driven
- Therapeutics and strong GP referral network
- 3 consulting rooms with a collaborative clinical culture
- Experienced Optometrists who value case discussion and shared learning
There’s a genuine balance here: autonomy in your consulting room, with support and clinical camaraderie when you want it. What You’ll Be Doing - Delivering comprehensive eye examinations and ongoing care
- Building your own patient base over time
- Taking an active role in the full patient journey - including dispensing
- Developing strong, long-term relationships within the local community
If you enjoy continuity of care and actually seeing the outcome of your clinical decisions, this will feel like a refreshing change. About You - 1+ years’ experience (not suited to new graduates)
- Comfortable practising across full-scope optometry
- Keen to be involved in the patient journey beyond the consulting room
- Values clinical autonomy and long-term patient relationships
- Therapeutically endorsed
Nice to have (but not essential): - Experience in advanced contact lens fitting
- Interest in aviation eye examinations - the retiring Optometrist previously supported this area, and the practice would welcome someone open to continuing it with further training
A Practice That Invests in the Profession The team has longstanding ties with both University of Melbourne and Deakin University, with teaching experience and ongoing involvement in optometry education. It’s a practice that contributes to the profession - not just operates within it. This is the kind of role people tend to stay in for years. |
