Optical Assistant (Pathway to Optical Dispensing) – Part Time

Lakkis Optometry is an established independent practice in East Keilor seeking a part-time Optical Assistant to join the team from May. This role is ideal for someone with strong customer service skills who is interested in learning the optical industry, with the opportunity to develop into an Optical Dispenser over time.

No optical experience is necessary - full training will be provided, along with support and education opportunities for the right person.

The Role

This is a varied position where you’ll play an important part in helping patients feel welcome and supported throughout their visit.

Your day may include:

• Greeting patients and managing the front desk
• Booking appointments and handling general administration
• Processing payments and assisting with practice systems
• Learning to assist patients with frame styling and eyewear selections
• Supporting the optometrist and team with day-to-day clinic operations

Over time, you will also have the opportunity to learn optical dispensing skills, including helping patients choose frames and lenses suited to their needs.

Days and Hours

This is a part-time role starting in May.

The practice requires availability on:

• Tuesday and Thursday (essential)
• Plus, either Monday or Wednesday

• Previous customer service, retail, reception, or administration experience
• Friendly and confident communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
• Good computer literacy
