Optical Assistant Sindy Lowinger Optometrist – St Ives, NSW Not every optical role is built around rigid routines. This one is different. Sindy Lowinger Optometrist is a community-focused practice with a strong interest in children’s vision and personalised care. We’re looking for someone warm, proactive, and confident working with children to join the practice one day per week, with opportunities to grow additional hours over time. This role could suit someone currently studying Optometry, Optical Dispensing, health sciences, psychology, education, or another related field who is looking to gain hands-on experience in a practice environment. The Role - Wednesdays required
- Flexible hours each week, with after-school availability essential
- Opportunity for additional days during school holidays and on Fridays
- Located in St Ives with public transport nearby
What You’ll Be Doing This is a varied role where no two days look the same. You’ll be involved in: - Supporting children and families throughout appointments
- Assisting with recalls and appointment coordination
- Helping grow awareness of the practice through Instagram and Facebook
- General reception and administrative support
- Contributing ideas and using initiative to support practice growth
This is not a heavily sales-focused dispensing role, and previous dispensing experience is not essential. About You You might already have experience in: - Customer service
- Reception or administration
- Healthcare or allied health environments
- Working with children
- Social media content or engagement
We’d love to hear from someone who: - Communicates confidently and warmly with children and parents
- Is organised and adaptable
- Enjoys taking initiative rather than waiting to be asked
- Is comfortable with changing schedules and a flexible work environment
- Has a genuine interest in eye care, children’s development, or healthcare
Experience using Sunix is a bonus, though not essential. A Working With Children Check is required for this role. If you don’t currently hold one, the practice can support you with the application process. Why This Role Stands Out - Genuine flexibility around study and life commitments
- Opportunity to build experience in a niche area of optometry
- Supportive small-practice environment
- Potential to grow your hours over time
- A role where initiative and personality matter just as much as experience
Some roles teach you how a practice runs. Others show you how patient relationships are built. This one does both. |
