Optical Assistant / Dispenser (Full Time)
Location: Margate, Redcliffe Peninsula

Dwyer & Ross Optometry has been providing trusted eye care to the Redcliffe community for over 60 years. As our practice continues to grow, we’re looking to welcome a full-time team member who is interested in building a long-term career within the practice.

This is a diverse, hands-on role with the opportunity to develop your skills across both dispensing and practice operations, with future progression into greater responsibility for the right person.

About the Role

You’ll play an integral role in both the patient experience and the day-to-day running of the practice. Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing front desk reception and patient interactions
• Coordinating appointments, recalls, and maintaining accurate patient records
• Handling phone and email enquiries with professionalism and confidence
• Processing payments (EFTPOS, HICAPS) and supporting daily banking tasks
• Assisting patients with frame selection and optical dispensing
• Supporting the overall flow and organisation of the practice

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is organised, proactive, and interested in growing with the practice over time.

• Previous experience in optical, healthcare, or a customer-facing environment
• Strong communication skills with a polished and professional manner
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
• Confident with computers and quick to learn new systems
• A proactive, team-focused approach with the confidence to take initiative

Experience in optical dispensing and exposure to practice administration will be highly regarded, particularly where you’ve taken on additional responsibility or supported the running of a business.
