Optometrist – Special Interest in Dry Eye Alleve Eye Clinic | South Australia Part Time – 2 Days per Week Alleve Eye Clinic is a specialised dry eye clinic and the first in South Australia dedicated to the evidence-based management of ocular surface disease – no refractions, dispensing, or posterior pole assessments. We are seeking a therapeutically endorsed Optometrist to join our specialised team two days per week (Monday and Wednesday are ideal but can be discussed, with potential for additional hours as the clinic expands to a multi-practitioner model), providing comprehensive dry eye care within a structured clinical protocol. With strong referral pathways and established treatment programs, this role offers consistent patient demand, financial stability, and the opportunity to work within your full therapeutic scope while delivering meaningful improvements to patients’ quality of life. The Role Working two days per week, you will: - Conduct comprehensive dry eye consultations
• Develop and implement tailored treatment plans • Perform in-room therapeutic treatments • Monitor patients through structured review cycles • Communicate with referring practitioners • Maintain clear clinical documentation
You will work within a well-established clinical protocol, ensuring consistent, high-quality care while providing a structured and rewarding clinical workflow. Treatments Include - Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
- Photobiomodulation therapy
- Topical therapeutics
- Oral antibiotics
- Punctal plugs
- Autologous serum eye drops
- Amniotic membrane therapy
- In-room heat and lid expression therapy
- Management of anterior blepharitis
- Lifestyle-based management aligned with TFOS DEWS recommendations
About You - Therapeutically endorsed Optometrist with AHPRA registration
- Strong clinical reasoning and patient-centred approach
- Excellent communication skills
- Empathetic and supportive when managing chronic conditions
- Interest in dry eye management and ongoing learning
Experience in dry eye management is advantageous; however, clinicians with a strong interest in ocular surface disease are encouraged to apply, with comprehensive in-house training provided.
