The Optical Nook is a boutique independent practice, we believe eye care should feel considered, personal, and beautifully executed.

We are seeking an experienced Optical Dispenser to join our growing team on a part-time basis. Our practice is centrally located, easily accessed by bus, train or CityCat, and open Monday to Saturday.

About Us

We are a design‑led, patient‑focused practice offering personalised eye care and curated eyewear collections. Our environment is warm, detail‑oriented, and built on long‑term patient relationships. In addition to boutique eyewear, our practice also specialises in myopia control as well as keratoconus contact lenses.

We relocated a practice built on a 30-year legacy of exceptional eyecare to beautiful heritage-listed premises in 2024. This is an opportunity to join a well-established, patient-focused independent practice where quality and service genuinely matter.

 Our ideal candidate will share our focus on delivering specialty and bespoke optometry services, as well as our passion for boutique eyewear collections and building loyal customer connections. 

About the Role

This is a hands-on dispensing role within a boutique environment. You will play a key part in delivering a seamless patient journey - from frame styling through to lens selection and final collection, and work within a supportive team environment to assist with daily practice operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Confident frame styling and lens recommendations
• Accurate interpretation of prescriptions and technical dispensing
• Facilitating contact lens dispensing
• Use of Optomate software (advanced proficiency highly regarded)
• Pre-testing, visual fields and diagnostic imaging
• Supporting stock control and supplier relationships
• Reception, general administrative and workflow support

About You

You are an experienced dispenser who:

• Has a strong background in optical dispensing
• Takes pride in accuracy and attention to detail
• Communicates with warmth and professionalism
• Enjoys building long-term patient relationships
• Is organised, reliable and comfortable working within a close-knit team

Experience with specialty contact lenses or marketing/social media is welcomed but not essential.
