We’re a long-standing, family-owned optometry practice on the Sunshine Coast, known for genuine care, personalised service, and a loyal patient base built over nearly 30 years.

We’re now looking for a customer-focused Optical Assistant to join our team in a part time or casual capacity, with a May start.

This isn’t a “stand behind the desk and process transactions” kind of job.

You’ll be part of a close-knit team that takes the time to get things right - for patients and for each other. The pace is steady, the environment is relaxed, and the expectation is simple: treat every patient like they matter (because they do).

What you’ll be doing

• Creating a warm, professional front-of-house experience
• Managing appointments, reception, and day-to-day admin
• Supporting patients in selecting and ordering eyewear
• Assisting with basic spectacle adjustments and repairs
• Working alongside the team to deliver a seamless patient journey

About you

You don’t need to come from optics - but you do need to care about people.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has strong customer service instincts (you just “get” people)
• Presents professionally and communicates with ease
• Is reliable, adaptable, and happy to pitch in where needed
• Learns quickly and takes initiative
• Enjoys being part of a team that supports each other

Optical experience or familiarity with Optomate Touch is a bonus, not a requirement — we’ll train the right person.

The details

• Casual role
• Regular days: Wednesday & Thursday, 9:30am – 5:00pm
• Additional hours available to cover school holidays and team leave
• Some flexibility around days may be considered for the right person
• No weekend work
• May start
