Optometrist - Build Your Patient Base and Clinical Focus
Optical World - Elsternwick and Ashburton, VIC - Approx. 35 hours per week

Build a patient base and a clinical focus of your own.

Optical World is seeking an experienced Optometrist who wants the autonomy to develop lasting patient relationships and bring a clinical interest into an established independent practice.

The role is approximately 35 hours across five days, with the option to increase to 38 hours by including alternate Saturdays. You will work primarily from one location, giving you the consistency to become known by its patients and within the surrounding community.

About Optical World

Optical World has practices in Elsternwick and Ashburton, delivering personalised eye care supported by modern clinical technology, including:

  • OCT
  • Retinal cameras
  • Perimeters
  • iCare tonometry
  • Auto-refraction
  • IPL technology

The practice has an established patient database and the equipment to support further clinical services. This creates a genuine opportunity to reconnect existing patients while developing an area of optometry that particularly interests you.

The practice is particularly interested in introducing myopia management and dry eye services, supported by its existing clinical technology. However, other clinical interests that complement the practice and its patients would also be welcomed.

The role

Alongside comprehensive clinical optometry, you will:

  • Build continuity of care with your own patient base
  • Reconnect with overdue and inactive patients
  • Develop relationships with local GPs, ophthalmologists and allied health professionals
  • Introduce or expand a clinical service aligned with your interests
  • Provide clear clinical, referral and optical recommendations
  • Dispense when required, supporting continuity from consultation through to eyewear selection

This is not a practice management position. It suits an Optometrist who enjoys taking ownership of their patient relationships and wants greater scope to influence how they practise.

About you

You are an experienced Optometrist who combines sound clinical judgement with an ability to build trust. You enjoy working in independent practice, are comfortable dispensing and would be motivated by the opportunity to develop a patient base and clinical interest of your own.

You will need current Australian optometry registration and ideally at least four years’ experience. Familiarity with Optomate would be helpful but can be learned.

Remuneration

A salary of $100,000 - $110,000 plus superannuation is available, depending on experience and the agreed hours.

Optical World offers the established patient connections, clinical technology and professional freedom to build a meaningful patient base and develop an area of optometry that genuinely interests you.
