Optical Assistant/Dispenser - Focus on Laurimar

Optical Assistant / Dispenser

Focus on Laurimar | Doreen, VIC | Part-time

Focus on Laurimar is looking for a new team member and is open to different levels of experience.  If you enjoy working with people and exploring new opportunities, this could be the position you've been waiting for.

You may already know your way around an optical practice, be studying optometry and looking for practical experience alongside your degree or bring strong customer service skills and be ready to learn something new.

The hours and days can be shaped around the successful applicant’s experience and availability, with regular part-time work available.

The role

We are seeking a flexible and engaging front of house staff member to join our team.  Each day will be varied and different to the day before.

Depending on your experience, your day may include:

  • Welcoming patients and managing appointments and enquiries
  • Assisting with frame selection and eyewear decisions
  • Supporting dispensing, collections, adjustments and repairs
  • Processing orders and maintaining accurate patient records
  • Working alongside the Optometrists to support a smooth patient experience
  • Developing your knowledge of lenses, frames and clinical services

Why Focus on Laurimar?

Focus on Laurimar is a locally owned independent practice providing tailored eyecare and eyewear solutions to families throughout Doreen and the surrounding community.

Being independent allows the practice to offer hand-picked frames, personalised recommendations, and a broad range of services, including behavioural optometry, children’s vision, vision therapy, contact lenses and orthokeratology.

This creates a varied role with exposure to both the clinical and eyewear sides of optometry.

About you

You’ll be someone who:

  • Communicates naturally and confidently with different people
  • Enjoys helping patients make considered eyewear choices
  • Has an interest in fashion, styling or quality products
  • Is reliable, punctual and willing to take responsibility
  • Learns new information and systems confidently
  • Brings initiative, attention to detail and a cooperative approach

Previous optical, health, retail or customer service experience would be welcomed but isn’t essential.

Current optometry students are encouraged to apply, with the practice open to discussing hours that can work alongside university commitments.

If you’re ready to turn your people skills, optical experience or optometry studies into better patient experiences, Focus on Laurimar could be the place to do it.
