We're looking for a Casual Optical Assistant to support our team over the busy Christmas period, with the potential to continue in an ongoing casual position afterwards.

Based primarily at our Penrith practice, with some shifts at Nepean Village, this opportunity offers flexible availability, hands-on experience, and the chance to learn from experienced optical professionals.

The Role

You'll be part of the team helping patients with their eyewear needs while developing an understanding of optical dispensing and day-to-day practice operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Welcoming patients and providing friendly, attentive customer service
• Assisting with frame selection and eyewear recommendations
• Supporting the team with optical dispensing and adjustments
• Helping with general retail, administration, and practice duties
• Learning about optical products, lenses, and dispensing processes

About You

Previous optical experience isn't necessary. We're more interested in your communication skills, willingness to learn and ability to connect with people.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Previous retail or customer service experience, although not essential
• Confidence communicating with people face-to-face
• An interest in eyecare, eyewear, and helping patients
• A willingness to learn and contribute to a busy team
• A reliable, organised, and adaptable approach
   

Optometry and vision science students are particularly encouraged to apply, although we're equally interested in hearing from candidates with strong customer service skills who would like to explore the optical industry.
